Kansas City's Invisalign and Orthodontics Information

September 07, 2011 @ 10:20 AM — by Dr. John Goodman

John P. Goodman D.D.S. offers a variety of Orthodontic proceduresincluding Invisalign, to re-align and straighten out crooked, misaligned, and overcrowded smiles.  Depending on your smile, Dr. John Goodman will personalize your Orthodontic experience to fit your style and meet your Dental expectations.  Whether you have minor alignments or more dramatic smile enhancements you'd like to make, Dr. Goodman walks you through your Orthodontic options.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a series of clear, barely noticeable retainers that perfect your smile a little bit at a time over a period of 12-48 months.  These almost invisable trays are worn all the time other than during meals and regular brushing, flossing, and rinsing.  Invisalign is a non-invasive, comfortable form of Orthodontics and requires fewer check-ups to traditional braces.  With Invisalign, there is no distracting metal or poking wires to deal with.  Invisalign is generally a little more expensive than other Orthodontic procedures, however Dr. Goodman recommends Invisalign for the overall experience, appearance, and stress-free results. You will always want to check with our office and your insurance on your coverage, latest pricing, and specials our office may be offering.

Traditional Braces

Traditional Braces including metal wiring, brackets, and rubber banding generally take around 18-48 months from time of placement until the removal of the braces.  Being the classic Orthodontic treatment, Traditional Braces provide excellent smile makeovers that stand the test of time.  More common than not, retainers or night guards are required post-removal to ensure the smile holds position.  Dr. Goodman recommends traditional braces for ages 10-14.  Metal braces are  just as effective for adults, but not as preferred because of the bulky "metal mouth" appearance. Traditional braces are generally around $3,000 depending on the case. This form of Orthodontics also requires monthly check-ups for tightenting and adjusting if wires come loose or become uncomfortable.

 Six Month Smile

Six month Smiles are similar to Invisalign, using clear braces, brackets, and trays to adjust a smile in around six months.  This Orthodontic alternative is very modern and typically less expensive than other alignment treatments.  Six Month Smiles are known for being comfortable and requiring fewer check-ups.  Dr. Goodman recommends Six Month Smiles to anyone, especially busy adults to give timely results for little to larger misalignments.

Snap On Smile

Snap on Smiles are special custom fit teeth that fit over your natural teeth.  You can enhance your smile instantly with Snap-On Smiles commonly used for events, pictures,or even to wear everyday.  This is the quickest, easiest way to change your smile and literally snap on and off without any pain or discomfort.  They are easy to clean and you remove them as you please for regular brushing, meals, or whenever.  Dr. Goodman considers Snap-On Smiles a smart option for those considering long-term Dental procedures who may be hesitant about their expectations or results.   Snap-On Smiles are customizable, allowing you to gain full confidence for any long-lasting procedure you might be considering.  Also, if your case takes a while to complete, you have a temporary smile to get you by.

Other Smile Makeover Options

Depending on your smile and expectations, there may be other options more fitting to you than Orthodontics or InvisalignPorcelain Veneers can be a great way to fix misalignments, gaps, cracks, chips, discolorations, etc.  With a strong porcelain base, the durable Veneers cover your teeth like a glove to make your smile appear luminous.  Composite Bonding is great for minor alterations whether you have a gap, small chip, or want to add a little here and there to personalize your smile.  Bonding uses a composite material used in fillings and generally lasts around 10 or so years.  Bonding is a durable quick fix that can make a dramatic enhancement to any smile.
