Porcelain Veneers: Parker's Transformation
Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are dental prosthetics that are placed on the surface of discolored, chipped, cracked, or misaligned teeth. Though veneers are simple to place and delicate in appearance, the role a thin ceramic shell can have in producing a beautiful smile is quite remarkable. The benefits of porcelain veneers are many:
- Instant smile makeover
- Conceal imperfections, such as chips, cracks, and discoloration
- An alternative to orthodontics (for the aesthetic correction of misaligned or crooked teeth)
- May be combined with other dental treatments, including restorative options
- Look and function just like real teeth
- Durable and long-lasting
Placing Porcelain Veneers
The process of acquiring porcelain veneers is done in three straightforward visits to our Kansas City practice.
Step 1: Planning
The planning phase takes place during your consultation. Here, you will share your cosmetic goals with Dr. Goodman, and the dentist will make his recommendations in turn. You will work together to pinpoint the size and shape of veneers that will reflect what you seek from your new smile.
Step 2: Preparing
During this visit, Dr. Goodman will prepare your teeth for the veneers to come. Once he gently removes a layer of enamel from the designated teeth, he will take an impression of the teeth. This mold will then be used to craft your customized porcelain veneers at our laboratory facilities. (As this takes about a week, it will be necessary to provide you with temporary veneers to protect your teeth in the interim.)
Soon, your personal set of veneers will be ready, and it will be time to return to have your veneers placed. The dentist will carefully apply the veneer to the tooth with a special bonding material. Before hardening it through light exposure, he will make sure the veneers fit harmoniously with your smile and bite.
We also offer a same-day porcelain veneers option for patients in need of a fast smile enhancement.
